Tom Roberts

As Vice President at Garney, Tom manages the company’s accounting and financial reporting, tax compliance, banking, and administration of Garney’s employee stock ownership plan (ESOP). He joined the Board of Directors in 2023. After graduating from the University of Northern Iowa in 1990 with a degree in accounting, Tom obtained his CPA license soon after. He spent 12 years in public accounting with firms in Des Moines and Kansas City before spending 10 years as CFO of a Kansas City contractor. Tom joined Garney in 2012 as Director of Financial Reporting and was promoted to Vice President in 2023. Tom is Chair of Garney’s ESOP Committee, serves as an ESOP Trustee, and is on the  Risk Management Council. He is also actively involved in ESCA. He’s recognized for his efforts in optimizing and advocating for Garney’s strong ESOP and its benefits, while also educating employees on the value it provides to them and their families.
